Verified Review Methodology

On March 13, 2026, I used my MacBook (Chrome) and my iPhone 17 Pro Max (Safari)’s 5G networks to test Once Again Upon A Time by Betsoft.

I tested how long it took the game to launch and found that on my MacBook it took 4 seconds, whereas on my iPhone it took 6 seconds.

I tested the spin, stop, and auto-play buttons, and everything seemed to work fine. I had recording troubles, so I only recorded a portion of my 100 spins.

Session Results

I started at 10:26 AM EST with $2,286.38 and stopped at 10:38 AM EST with $2,291.48.

I bet $0.50 per spin (the minimum at the casino I was playing at) and spun the reels 100 times. I won $5.10. 🎰

Gameplay & Volatility Analysis

I used the turbo spins and started playing, and it was very volatile and crazy.

The first 10 spins didn’t yield many wins, and neither did anything significant happen until the 54th spin.

This is when I triggered the hold-and-win bonus round and won $25.00. 🛡️

After that, there were a few wins but nothing significant. However, the win in the bonus round was enough to keep me in the green.

Pro Tip: Set your loss limits, as this game is extremely volatile. ₿

Mobile & Hardware Performance

Unlike the original version, playing on my iPhone held vertically was a pleasure.

The game took up the entire screen, and gameplay was smooth. However, when I played horizontally, the gameplay was not as good because it did not fill the screen, and the buttons were too small, in my opinion.

Regarding hardware performance, I noticed that my MacBook had gotten quite hot, whereas my iPhone was cool as a cucumber. I noticed that both devices had used about 2% of their battery life.

Best For

Players who prefer high-excitement vertical mobile play and modern Hold-and-Win bonus features.

Who This Is Not For

Punters who prioritize a double-up feature or enjoy playing in horizontal mobile orientation.

⚠️ Friction Points

  • 10:26 AM: Immediate recording troubles limited the captured footage of the full 100 spins.
  • 10:32 AM: High volatility hit hard with zero significant wins until the 54th spin.
  • General: Horizontal mobile orientation UI fail; screen not filled and buttons too small.

Pros

  • More exciting than Ogre Empire.
  • Vertical mobile mode is a pleasure.
  • Bonus round payout ($25.00) offset dry spells.

Cons

  • No double-up feature.
  • MacBook gets quite hot during play.
  • Horizontal mobile UI is poor.

Comparisons & Verdict

Compared to Ogre Empire, I thought this game was much better and more exciting.

While it has a buy feature like Mr. Vegas 2 and Greedy Goblins did, I found myself wishing it had a double-up feature like Ogre Empire.
